Everyone I knew listened intently to Mr Amir's instructions. At least we were just staring at him blankly; the thoughts in our head were completely different. We were all thinking about the game. The intellectual thought of strategies while those with brawn thought of ramming the small white holed ball straight into the goal posts. It was the inter-class floor ball tournament and I was representing my class. I knew that I was no floor ball player but since everybody went to play in the soccer tournament I decided floor ball it is.
The classes were split into 2 groups and my class was playing the first game. I played the usual defender position as soon as the siren rang, human reaction time never said hello. The adrenaline fuelled our bodies and we began to play. I stood there waiting as my teams’ strikers got position of the ball. The constant swoosh and smack of the floor ball sticks flooded my ears. To calm myself I tried to make a rhythm out of the sticks. Not to my surprise the opposition team got control of the ball and came charging towards me with the ball. ‘Here we go’ I said to the goalie who was even more tensed them me.
Many goals and goals let in came and went. I was often substituted with others so that they could have a chance playing. After many games our outcome wasn’t promising. Our last game was with 1E for 7&8 placing.
We were thoroughly embarrassed but we weren’t going to give up. We played the best game we ever played. I played so hard i injured my leg and had to miss half the game.No person had the ball for more than 2 seconds we kept passing and what happened? We won the game 8-2! Perseverance is the key to everything
